There is something incredibly satisfying about playing a good farming simulation. Not all time management are created equal, but Farm Frenzy 3 serves as an example of how great this type of game can be.

Nothing Mindless About This Farming Game

This farming game is an open sandbox for you to play in; it doesn't hold your hand during the course of the gameplay experience. The game lets you call all the shots, but as fun as that freedom is, it also allows you to make mistakes. It is possible to make up for and correct poorly planned choices in the game, but it will cost you time and effort. A lot like real life.

Requires Careful Strategy

What looks like the best way to approach an objective may in fact be a bad idea. Choices have an impact on everything on your farm, so you must plan wisely.

For example, it may seem like the best idea to load your farm full of animals so that they will produce faster, but that in turn makes consumable resources go down much more rapidly. This is not a problem if you have reached a point in the game where you have a lot of money, but it's a real issue if you can't afford to replenish supplies.

Animals will quickly die without food, so planning is key! The strategic element keeps gameplay fresh and engaging.

We're Not In Kansas Anymore!

This little piece of heaven that you get to call your own in this game is not in Hicksville; it's located in the untamed landscape that is Africa.

Forget wolves coming to eat your sheep and foxes gunning for your chickens because in this game, lions are wanting to eat everything. The big, brutal beasties will fall from the sky and land on your farm, eagerly munching any poor animal that crosses their path.

As irritating as that is, lions are actually good news if you play your cards right, at least during the beginning levels when big money is scarce. Just cage up the lion and sell him. Cha-ching! Also, the animals on the farm are unusual too. For example, instead of farming chickens, you will farm guinea fowl.

Pleasing Graphics

The graphics in this game are really easy on the eyes, and the 3D rendering is smooth and well done.

Completing Awards and Challenges Will Alter Gameplay

There are several awards and achievements that may be collected throughout the course of the game. Most of them will require varying your playing strategy somewhat from that which is normal for you, resulting in a more diverse gaming experience.

Farm Frenzy 3 is a surprisingly robust farming simulation that will not only appeal to fans of the time management genre, but also those who love a good puzzle.
