The crown of thorns has been stolen from the famous Notre Dame Cathedral. Nothing quite like this has happened before, and there is no suspect or motive. There is, however, a note.

The note, made in the style of ransom notes with the cut out magazine fragments, asks that there be no condemnation passed on them for what they had done, because they were given no choice. There were no signs of forced entry into the protective glass case which housed and protected the crown.

Who could have pulled off such a heist? What could their motives be?
