The jungles of Central America beckon once more! An abundance of lost gold and magical artifacts once belonging to the ancient Aztecs continues to lie undiscovered, waiting for a quick and bright mind to find them all!

Anyone familiar with the colorful Treasures of Montezuma series will be right at home here. And anyone who has just hopped in can quickly enough learn all there is to know about this quirky and colorful puzzle game. This iteration features that same mix-and-match gameplay with magical spells the series is renowned for, and thanks to more intricate animations, now has more personality than ever before!

Racing Against Time

Like many puzzle games, the object of The Treasures of Montezuma is to remove as many of the tokens cluttering the screen as possible. To generally do this, you must swap them around, grouping same colored objects together in rows of three or more, scoring enough points to allow you to reach the next level. But time is not on your side, so you have to be quick!

That is where jewels come in. Destroying any token with these precious gems inlaid into them earns you some much needed bonus points. It also helps to combo, to get rid of several rows of tokens with a single swap. Be efficient! Only with some fast observation, a reflexive mouse finger, and a little luck will you be able pass the trials of The Treasures of Montezuma 3.

That, and maybe a little help from some otherworldly powers of an ancient civilization.

Use Mystical Magic

Where The Treasures of Montezuma has always differentiated itself from the competition is in the powers and upgrades you to unlock as you progress. Complete levels, succeed in bonus trials, and beat the high scores, and you will earn special Gold Stars which you can use to purchase new abilities.

Some of these abilities spawn assorted pick-ups in the game, like bombs that destroy nearby tokens, or lightning bolts that clear an entire column for you. Some abilities bring additional assistance, such as improving the quality of hints, or unlocking the fabled Score Frenzy mode that multiplies your points by leaps and bounds! Others come in the form of totems, where the effect kicks in depending on the actions you take. Clear red tokens with the Red Totem on hand, and watch the crimson stone idol come to life and hurl mighty fireballs upon the board, incinerating random tokens just like that. Or clear green tokens while the Green Totem is active, and have the entire board cleared up entirely in an instant!

No Wrong Way to Play
